Interactive Brokers Adds ChatGPT and Grok to AI Trading Integrations
Interactive Brokers said on 22 June that clients can now connect their IBKR accounts to ChatGPT and Grok, adding to the broker’s existing Claude integration for AI-assisted research and trading workflows.
The broker said the integrations are available through certified AI connector marketplaces and let clients research portfolios, analyze markets and generate order instructions in natural language. Interactive Brokers also expanded the supported product set for order instructions to options, futures and futures options, in addition to equities and ETFs.
According to the company, clients use their IBKR login to connect an account and do not share passwords or API keys with the AI provider. Interactive Brokers said every instruction must be reviewed and approved by the client in a dedicated AI Instructions tab before any order is sent to the market.
Why it matters
AI-assisted workflows are moving from research-only chat tools toward broker-connected account analysis and order preparation. For active traders, the key distinction is whether the platform keeps execution approval under the client’s control and whether the workflow supports complex products such as options and futures.
The update does not remove the need for product knowledge. Options, futures and margin trading remain high-risk areas where a generated instruction can still be unsuitable, oversized or based on a weak prompt.
