TradingView Adds Alerts to Long and Short Position Drawings
TradingView has added native alerts to long and short position drawings, extending one of its core trade-planning tools beyond visual chart markup.
The platform said users can now create an alert directly from a long or short position drawing. One alert can monitor the entry, stop-loss, and take-profit levels connected to the planned trade. When the entry triggers, the alert continues watching the exit levels; once the stop or target triggers, TradingView says the alert stops. If a trader edits or moves the drawing, the alert restarts with the updated values.
TradingView also said the default alert message includes trade context such as ticker, level, price, quantity, and profit-and-loss information. The feature can be added from a right-click menu or the drawing’s floating toolbar.
Why it matters
This is a practical workflow update for traders who already use TradingView position tools for risk planning. Before this change, users had to create separate horizontal-line alerts for each level or manually watch the setup after placing the drawing.
Reducing duplicate alert setup lowers the chance of missing a stop, target, or entry trigger because the chart annotation and alert logic drifted apart.
What to watch next
Watch for whether TradingView extends similar alert behavior to other risk-management drawings and broker-connected order workflows. The bigger question is how closely planning, alerts, and execution can stay synchronized inside one chart workspace.
