MetaTrader 5 Build 6180 Expands AI Assistant Into Strategy Tester
MetaQuotes released MetaTrader 5 Build 6180 on September 4, 2026, significantly expanding the platform’s built-in AI Assistant. The assistant can now operate directly inside the Strategy Tester and handle tasks that previously required manual configuration.
New capabilities include retrieving and analyzing Strategy Tester reports and logs, checking current tester settings, helping launch optimization passes, adding technical indicators to charts with specified parameters, and reading terminal and Expert Advisor logs. In practice, traders can now ask the AI Assistant to evaluate an EA’s performance across optimization runs or diagnose testing errors without leaving the platform.
For MQL5 developers, the update adds support for additional methods for working with complex matrices and vectors, simplifying data processing and validation in analytical tasks. The web terminal also received an improvement for netting accounts: placing a new trade on an instrument with an existing position now preserves the current Stop Loss and Take Profit levels instead of removing them.
Why it matters
Build 6180 turns the AI Assistant from a market-analysis companion into a hands-on testing tool. Algorithmic traders who use the Strategy Tester heavily can now delegate repetitive optimization and debugging tasks to the assistant, potentially cutting the time needed to iterate on EA strategies. The netting-account fix also removes a longstanding frustration for traders who manage positions through the web terminal.
What to watch next
MetaQuotes has been shipping AI updates roughly monthly since Build 6060 in July. The pace suggests further Strategy Tester integration — possibly automated backtesting workflows — in upcoming builds. Traders should update to Build 6180 to access the new features.
