FCA Arrests Three in Suspected Insider Dealing and Money-Laundering Operation

The UK’s Financial Conduct Authority said it arrested three individuals on October 13 in a joint operation with the National Crime Agency targeting a suspected organised criminal group involved in insider dealing and money laundering. The FCA said more than 100 FCA and NCA staff searched five residential properties in London and Manchester.

Investigators seized more than 30 mobile phones, laptops and tablets, according to the regulator. The FCA said the three suspects were being interviewed at police stations in London and Manchester and that it could not provide further detail at this stage.

The release is an enforcement update, not a finding of wrongdoing against the arrested individuals. The FCA described insider dealing as a threat to market integrity and said it would continue to use its powers against serious and organised market-abuse activity. It also reported that, in 2025/26, it secured four insider-dealing convictions; two resulted in sentences totalling 11 years, while 12 people were fined a combined £1.77 million for insider dealing, market manipulation and misleading statements.

Why it matters

For traders, enforcement against suspected misuse of non-public information is central to confidence that prices incorporate information fairly. The announcement does not identify securities, venues or brokerages, so it does not create a trading action or a conclusion about any particular market participant.

What to watch next

Watch for any further FCA or NCA announcements as the investigation progresses. Firms and market participants should continue to follow their own surveillance, information-barrier and suspicious-activity procedures rather than infer details from the initial arrest announcement.
