FCA Adds ALSET MARKETS to Its Warning List
The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) added ALSET MARKETS to its Warning List on 16 October. The regulator says the firm is not authorised or registered by the FCA and may be providing or promoting financial services or products without permission.
The entry is a regulatory-status warning, rather than an assessment of a particular trading product or customer offer. For traders, the practical issue is to identify the exact legal entity that would receive client money and to check whether it is authorised for the service it claims to provide. A trading website, brand name or unsolicited approach is not evidence of UK permission.
The FCA advises consumers to avoid dealing with unauthorised firms and to remain alert to scams. It also notes that unauthorised firms can give inaccurate details or use details belonging to another business, making independent checks important.
Why it matters
Customers who deal with an unauthorised firm may not be able to use the Financial Ombudsman Service or claim Financial Services Compensation Scheme protection if something goes wrong. Before opening or funding an account, traders should compare the entity name and contact details against the FCA’s official register.
What to watch next
Monitor the FCA warning page for updates. If an approach arrives unexpectedly, use contact information found independently through the FCA rather than details supplied by the person or website making the offer.
