Interactive Brokers Adds Claude Integration for Portfolio Analysis and Trade Instructions
Interactive Brokers announced on 1 June that clients can connect their IBKR accounts to Claude through the AI platform’s certified connector marketplace. The broker says the integration lets clients use natural-language prompts to review account information, analyze portfolios and generate trade instructions across IBKR platforms.
The launch is not a fully automated trading tool. Interactive Brokers says trade instructions generated through the integration appear in a dedicated AI Instructions tab on the Orders and Trades page, where the client must review and approve the submission before it becomes an order. At launch, the connector supports equities and ETFs, including market and limit order instructions, with additional asset classes expected to follow.
Interactive Brokers also emphasized the security model: no API keys or passwords are shared with the AI provider, and authentication credentials are not stored on the client’s computer. The broker said integrations with ChatGPT, Gemini and Grok are in certification.
Why it matters
AI-assisted trading is moving from research widgets toward direct broker-account workflows. For active traders, the practical question is less whether AI can produce an idea and more how brokers control authentication, order staging, margin visibility and final human approval.
What to watch next
